The Reverse Diet is designed for fitness competitors who have just competed to build their way back up to an acceptable caloric level without gaining a lot of body fat.
We see it all the time. Someone just did a show where they stripped all the body fat off and were in the best shape of their lives, but they didn’t know how to eat after the show and so they quickly gained a lot of body fat. This is a fairly common phenomenon which is caused from eating very clean foods in a caloric deficit and then eating a large caloric surplus causing your body to add fat very quickly. If you want to keep those hard earned cuts you are going to have to be smart about it. This is where the reverse diet comes in. With the reverse diet we slowly add calories back in until you get back to a acceptable caloric maintenance level. This strategy will allow you to slowly work your way back up to “normal” eating without adding a significant amount of body fat.
